| Written Student Learning Plan | |
| All students will work with their teacher and/or advisor at the beginning of each Learning Period (once a month) to create a Student Learning Plan (SLP). For K-8 students, the SLP will be discussed with the parent or guardian and will require a parent/guardian signature. The components of the SLP are: | |
| ► Beginning and ending date of the learning period (one month) | |
| ► Estimated hours per week the student will engage in learning activities | |
| ► Description of how and when the weekly teacher/student contact requirements will be met | |
| ► Description of the objectives of the learning plan | |
| ► List of essential instructional materials | |
| ► Description of timeline and methods for evaluation of student progress | |
| ► Identification of whether the SLP meets one or more of the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALR) for Washington State | |
| ► For high school students: Identification of whether the SLP meets state and district graduation requirements | |
| Adequate Progress: | |
| Adequate Progress by students includes their meeting the goals of the Student Learning Plan every month. While this meets the state requirement, teachers and parents are also mindful of state graduation requirements, and strive to set goals that will allow students to graduate in a timely manner. | |
| Lack of Adequate Progress Policy: | |
|
If a student fails to make satisfactory progress for two consecutive learning periods or if the student fails to follow the written student learning plan, an intervention plan designed to improve student progress will be developed and implemented. This intervention plan will be developed by the student’s teacher and mentor in conjunction with the student and, for students in grades K–8, the student's parent(s) or guardian. If, after no more than three subsequent evaluation periods, the student still is not making satisfactory progress, a plan designed to more appropriately meet the student's educational need will be developed and implemented by school instructional staff in conjunction with the student and, for students in grades K–8, the student's parent(s) or guardian. Students enrolled with Productive Learning are required to have two-way communications with their teacher at a minimum of once per week, until the student completes the course objectives or the requirementsof the learning plan. Contact may be by phone or through e-class and will be for the purposes of instruction, review of assignments, testing, reporting of student progress, or other learning activities. Failure by a student to maintain weekly contact with their teachers and mentor constitutes an unexcused absence for the week. If a student receives twenty consecutive school days of unexcused absences, this will be considered a sufficient indicator of lack ofprogress and the student will be withdrawn from Productive Learning and returned to their home school district for their educational needs. |
